Practical Tips When Your Event Changes

Knowing the policy is one thing; acting on it smoothly is another. When an event you hold tickets for is postponed, canceled or relocated, a few simple habits can save you time and frustration.

Keep your order details handy

Save your order confirmation email and note your order number somewhere easy to find. If you need to request a refund or ask a question, having the event name, date, section and order number ready makes the conversation much quicker. Screenshots of your mobile tickets can also help, although the live ticket in your account is always the one that gets scanned at the door.

Watch for official announcements

Changes usually come from the event organizer, the artist or the venue. Before you make new travel plans, check the organizer's or venue's official channels for the confirmed new date or location. Rumors spread quickly on social media, and a postponement can sometimes turn into a cancellation, or the other way round. Wait for confirmation so you don't act on information that later changes.

Think before requesting a refund on a postponed show

If a concert moves to a new date, consider whether you can realistically attend before giving up your seats. Rescheduled shows are often just as popular as the original, and seats in good sections may be harder to find later. If the new date truly doesn't suit you, request your refund within whatever window is stated in your notification. Some deadlines are short.

Review travel and hotel bookings separately

Ticket refunds cover the ticket purchase itself. Flights, hotels, parking and dinner reservations are separate agreements with those providers, so contact them directly and review their own cancellation terms. This is especially worth remembering for visitors coming to Nashville for a weekend of shows.

Selling instead of refunding

When an event goes ahead as planned but you can no longer attend, a refund generally isn't available. In that case, listing your seats for another fan may be your best option. Our guide to selling tickets explains the process, and the Fan Guarantee outlines the protections that apply to verified listings.
