Getting the Most Out of Your Price Alerts
A price alert is only as useful as the target you give it. Setting a realistic range makes the difference between a notification you can act on and one that never arrives. Before you choose a number, look at what similar seats are listing for right now and decide what you would genuinely be happy to pay. A target slightly below the current going rate tends to trigger more often than one that assumes a dramatic drop.
Why resale prices move
On a resale marketplace, prices are set by individual sellers, so they shift with demand. A few patterns are common:
- Announcements and on-sales often bring a burst of interest, and listings can be priced high at first.
- Added dates or extra inventory can ease demand for the original show, which sometimes softens prices.
- The final days before an event can go either way. Sellers who cannot attend may lower their asking price, but popular shows can also get tighter as supply runs out.
None of these patterns is guaranteed. That is why an alert helps. You do not have to keep checking the listings yourself.
Practical tips
- Track more than one section or price tier if you are flexible on seating. That improves your chances of a match.
- Turn on app notifications as well as email. A good listing at a lower price can be bought quickly by another fan.
- When an alert arrives, check the full details before you buy. Look at the row, the seat count, any viewing notes and the delivery method.
- Factor in total cost, not only the headline price, so you are comparing like with like.
